Our daily responsibilities often keep us too busy that we fall behind on maintaining our beauty. While it is true that we should prioritize our obligations, we shouldn’t forget to take care of ourselves too. If you are someone who is always on the go, here are some overnight beauty hacks that don’t require any effort at all.
1. Switch to satin or silk sheets.
Many of us use cotton pillow cases which harm both our hair and skin. Researchers discovered that cotton pillow cases create pressure on your skin causing wrinkles. Also, rougher cotton pillow cases cause hair breakage. To protect your hair and skin from damage, switch to satin or silk sheets. Not only are they a safer choice, they are more comfortable too. Now you have a good reason to splurge on those fancy sheets!
2. Wear socks to bed.
Did you know that wearing socks to bed can help soften up your feet? If you don’t have time to get a pedicure, just grab some Vaseline and massage onto your feet. Let it set for a couple of minutes then put the socks on. Your feet will definitely thank you! This hack works great for nasty cracks in your heels. Just a few days of wearing socks to bed will make them heal.
3. Put coconut oil on your cuticles.
Not only can you enjoy a little pedicure treatment while you sleep, you can also get some treatment for your nails as well. If you have dry nail beds, apply a small amount of coconut oil to your cuticles before going to sleep. Depending on your preference, you can choose whether you’d want to wear gloves or not. However, wearing gloves will help your cuticles absorb moisture better. When you wake up, your nail beds will surely be happy and hydrated.
4. Change your sleep position.
Do you sleep on your tummy or on your side? If so, we have some bad news for you. Your sleep position can actually cause bags under your eyes because lying on your tummy or on your side makes your body fluid collect in that area. To avoid sporting designer eye bags, sleep on your back. This is easier said than done but try putting more pillows under your head for inclination. This will allow your body fluid to drain instead of collecting and sitting all night in your face.
5. Use a humidifier.
If you are suffering with dry skin, use a humidifier in your bedroom. It increases moisture in the air, helping your skin to get the hydration it needs. When using one, be sure to change the water every day to avoid bacteria from growing inside. Having a humidifier in your room as you sleep has tons of other benefits too. It helps with seasonal allergies and has been found to help people sleep better too.
6. Style your hair.
The natural-looking curls in the photo were not achieved with iron curls or any hair treatment. If you want to have the same effortless look, just braid your hair before going to sleep. If you want some soft waves, wrap your hair around a headband or simply sleep with it a little damp and let nature do the job. Play around with your hair and enjoy different hairstyles without effort! Styling your hair this way also keeps your locks safe from heat and chemical damage.
7. Nourish your hair.
Before hitting the sack, apply some leave-in conditioner or treatment to your hair, wrap it with an old t-shirt or towel and let it sit overnight. Nourishing your hair while you sleep is the perfect time for your hair to soak and get the hydration it needs. Plus, the treatment won’t get in the way of doing chores or keeping up with your responsibilities. When you wake up in the morning, your hair will feel more hydrated and healthy. If it looks a little greasy, wash it out with a shower.
8. Hydrate your lips.
Having dry lips can be both annoying and painful. To get rid of it, apply some coconut oil or petroleum jelly on your lips before calling it a night. It will hydrate your lips overnight and make them feel smooth and soft in the morning. Doing this regularly is a great way to maintain kissable lips!
9. Whiten teeth.
When you are working on whitening your teeth, you usually have to leave some sort of whitening product on for a few hours. You may not have time to do this during the day most especially if you eat regularly. To whiten your teeth, apply the whitening product before hitting the sack. There are also natural remedies that you can try, like baking soda. Rub a little baking soda on to your teeth and leave it on for five minutes then rinse thoroughly before going to bed.
10. Lengthen your lashes.
If you are among the millions of women who wish they had longer eye lashes, one way to get those is applying castor oil on your eyelashes. Use a clean eyelash wand to apply it on your eyelashes and leave it on overnight. When you wake up in the morning, wash it off with warm water before washing the rest of your face. You will not see results overnight but after doing this for months, you surely will.
